"Gift For School" Fund
What is the Gift for School Fund?
The "Gift for School" Fund is Shop EcoTribe’s core impact initiative, using the power of gifting to change lives through education. A portion, currently 10%, of every curated gift box goes into a dedicated fund that pays senior secondary fees for high-performing children from underserved communities in Kenya. Under Kenya’s new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) a 2-6-3-3-3 system, senior secondary spans three years, and the "Gift for School" Fund is committed to fully sponsoring these students throughout that period—covering not just fees, but also critical essentials they need to thrive.
Our Mission: Education for Future Leaders
At the heart of the "Gift for School" Fund is a simple but powerful belief: education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and raising a generation of empowered, purpose-driven leaders. Yet in Kenya, the transition from junior secondary to senior secondary school is alarmingly low. The leading barrier is lack of school fees. The consequences are severe—rising rates of teen pregnancies, early marriages, child labor, and long-term poverty cycles that trap families for generations. We exist to change that. By providing school fees, supplies, mentorship, and emotional support, we are not just helping children stay in school—we are investing in Kenya’s future leaders. One gift at a time, we’re building a path to a brighter, more equitable future.

How it Works
- We visit public schools in underserved areas and partner with teachers to identify top performing students unable to afford senior secondary education.
- We interview the families of these students, verify their need, and select the most vulnerable students.
- Once selected, each student receives uniforms, essential school supplies, and termly pocket money to support their basic needs. School fees are currently paid termly and directly to the school's financial account.
- Beyond financial support, we track each student’s academic progress and provide ongoing mentorship to encourage their personal and educational growth. As the fund grows, we hope to extend our impact by supporting students through university and beyond.
